Walo privacy
Last updated September 2, 2026

Your information, plainly explained.

The short version of what Walo collects, why we need it, and the choices you have.

Plain-language draft for Walo’s owner and legal reviewer to confirm. If a separate signed policy is supplied, it should replace or update this page.

01

What we collect

Walo collects the information needed to make and deliver your idea. Depending on what you use, this can include:

  • Your email address.
  • For the Free plan, we store your ZIP code and time zone to personalize ideas.
  • For One Idea or Daily Companion, your city or neighborhood and the preferences you choose, such as mood, categories, or things to avoid.
  • Your phone number and SMS consent status if you choose text delivery.
  • IP address and browser user-agent headers received with requests. Walo immediately combines these values into a one-way fingerprint for abuse prevention and rate limiting; raw IP addresses and user-agent strings are not stored. The fingerprint is kept only in a rate-limit bucket until that bucket expires. Because it is not linked to an account, it is not included in an account-specific export or deletion.
  • Purchase, subscription, delivery, and fulfillment details needed to provide One Idea or Daily Companion.
  • Consent and opt-out history, including messages such as STOP or START sent to the Walo SMS number.

Payments are processed through Walo’s payment partner. Walo uses the checkout information returned by that partner to verify a payment and fulfill the associated service.

02

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Create and deliver your personalized ideas.
  • Send One Idea, Daily Companion, waitlist, and service messages through the channel you choose.
  • Use email as a fallback when an opted-in text cannot be delivered.
  • Record and honor SMS consent, STOP requests, and later opt-in requests.
  • Verify payments, maintain subscription and delivery records, prevent abuse, and answer support requests.

Walo may use your selected preferences as context for generating a better idea. We do not need more information than the service requires, so please do not send sensitive personal information in free-form preference fields.

03

When information is shared

We share information with service providers only when they help us operate Walo, and we limit the information to what that job needs:

  • Our payment provider receives checkout and payment details needed to process and verify a purchase or subscription.
  • Our email provider receives your email address and the message needed to deliver Walo by email.
  • Our SMS provider receives your phone number, message, and delivery or opt-out information needed to send texts.
  • Our AI provider may receive the prompt context needed to generate a personalized idea.
  • Hosting, database, and security providers process information needed to run and protect the service.

We may also disclose information when necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid legal request, protect the service or another person, or investigate abuse. We do not use your phone number to send unrelated third-party messages.

04

SMS and your choices

Texting is optional and requires your affirmative consent. We store the phone number and consent record needed to respect your choice. Reply STOP to opt out. Walo recognizes standard opt-in keywords such as START after an opt-out where supported.

Message frequency depends on the service: a One Idea message for a One Idea purchase, a setup or first-idea message and then one daily idea for Daily Companion, and limited confirmation or availability messages for the waitlist. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for a short automated support response, or email withwalo@polsia.app. Walo records the keyword event but does not retain arbitrary inbound message text.

05

Retention and security

Walo applies scheduled redaction to operational contact details and free-form preference or generated-message content after it is no longer needed for active delivery and support. Purchase identifiers, minimal payment evidence, consent history, and security audit evidence may remain where needed for reconciliation, disputes, legal obligations, or abuse prevention.

Admin views require an authenticated administrator and show masked identifiers by default. Self-service exports and deletion requests are authenticated. After an account is deleted, Walo keeps text-message consent records as proof of consent, including the phone number, date and time, how you agreed to receive texts, and the wording you agreed to. To ask about those records, contact contact@withwalo.com. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, but no online service can promise absolute security.

06

Updates and questions

We may update this policy when Walo’s data practices change. We will update the date above and publish the current version on this page. The page is a plain-language draft for Walo’s owner and legal reviewer to confirm before final publication.

To ask about your information, a purchase, a subscription, or SMS consent, contact withwalo@polsia.app.

App-level redaction cannot remove copies held by payment, email, SMS, AI, hosting, backup, or infrastructure-log providers. Those records follow the providers’ own policies and retention controls.
